“If we move in mass, be it ever so circuitously, we shall attain our object; but if we break into squads … we become an easy conquest to those who can now barely hold us in check.” –Thomas Jefferson, 1811

Obama: ‘Cumbersome Bureaucracy’?

Get this: Addressing the government’s IT failures, Obama said: “When we buy IT services generally, it is so bureaucratic and so cumbersome that a whole bunch of it doesn’t work or ends up being way over cost. … Once we get this particular website [Heathcare.gov] fixed, they’re going to be some lessons learned we can apply to the federal government in general.” “Doesn’t work OR over cost,” he says? Surely he meant, “Doesn’t work AND over cost.” The lesson learned here is that socialist government centralization schemes don’t work — apply that to the “federal government in general”!

The Shadow of Incompetence

Obama’s former chief economic advisor, Larry Summers, notes that, as a result of the O’care failure, “a shadow has been cast on the government’s competence.” Uh, our Founders cast that long shadow on government competence when they forged our Constitution’s limits on the powers of our central government. That not withstanding, the order of business regarding the constitutionality of socialist government programs is summed up today in the now-infamous words of Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee (where Rule of Law once prevailed): “Nobody questions that!”

Panetta: ‘Bureaucracies Unreliable’

Obama’s former White House Chief of Staff (SecDef and CIA director), Leon Panetta, offered this keen insight on the cascading failure of O’Care: “You cannot rely on the bureaucracies to do this kind of work. They don’t have the capabilities to get this done.” Surely this just applies to O’Care and not all the other government IT data hubs and distribution centers! One of our favorite conservative House members, Rep. Trey Gowdy, (R-SC), asks, “I wanted to know why we were promised a state of the art website and we got an abacus and a sundial? I want to know what we got for our money? To say it’s ‘a a train wreck’ is an insult to train wrecks.”

WWII and ObamaCare

For the record: From the date O’Care was passed, 23 March 2010, to the date Healthcare.gov was supposed to be operational, 01 October 2013, is 3 years, 6 months and 10 days. For comparison, from the date of our entry into WWII to the date of Germany’s surrender is one month LESS than Obama and his socialist cadres had to get their website operational. That would include our nation’s industrial surge ahead of the invasion of North Africa and Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, the race to Berlin, all while fully engaged on a second warfront in the Pacific. The EPIC FAIL of Healthcare.gov is a stunning metaphor for the predictable failure of all statist regimes! And might we add, generations of American vets have given their lives to “Support and Defend” our Constitution — it is time our nation demanded that Obama do the same!

BIG LIE Smoking Gun

While Obama is busy telling new lies to cover his old lies about keeping doctors and insurance plans, more than a few commentators on the right question if Obama actually knew that he was lying, leaving the door open for a kinder, gentler condemnation. However, consider this clear exchange from a 25 February 2010 conference between Obama and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. In that meeting, Cantor called Obama out on the cancellations: “One of the promises you ought to make is that people ought to be able to keep the health insurance that they have. Between 8 and 9 million people may very well lose the covers that they have because of the construct of this bill. That’s our concern. I don’t think that you can answer the question in the positive that people will be able to maintain their coverage, that people will be a will see the doctors they want in the bill that you’re proposing.” Obama responded, “The 8-9 million people that you refer to who might have to change their coverage would be folks who … would find the deal in the exchange better, would be a better deal, so yes they would change coverage because they have more choices. Let’s just be clear about that!” Yes Obama, let’s do be clear on that: YOU LIE, PERIOD!

The Real ‘Minimum Wage’ Winners

Obama’s diversionary $10+ minimum wage proposal has lots of class warfare appeal, but the real winners are his labor union loyalists. Most union contracts have a clause ensuring that any minimum wage increase will also be reflected in their hourly wages, even if these wages are three or four times the minimum wage. In other words, if a union member is paid $40/hour, and the minimum wage is increased $3/hour, then a day later that union wage will be $43/hour. Of course, this is part of the union payback in restitution for the negative impact of O’Care on union benefits and healthcare plans.

Just a BIG Misunderstanding!

According to Democrat National Committee Chair, Demo-Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, the fact that now more than 4 MILLION Americans have had their private insurance cancelled is just a big misunderstanding. “It is a real significant distortion to say that hundreds of thousands of people are being cancelled. What’s actually happening is that they are very likely to get a better plan for less money.” You got cancelled for your own good!

$2 Trillion Redistributed

Obama infamously told “Joe the Plumber,” “I want to spread the wealth around.” He’s succeeded in making that wish reality. The Daily Caller reports, “Government policies effectively redistributed more than $2 trillion in income from the top 40 percent of American society to the bottom 60 percent in 2012, according to a new study from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation.” Roughly 50% of that was confiscated from the top 1%. According to the DC, “The study found that the country’s lowest-income families receive $5.28 in government spending for every $1 they pay in taxes. Highest-income families only receive back 25 cents in government spending for every dollar of taxes they pay.” Yet Obama says that “the wealthy” just need to pay their “fair share.”

Environmentalists’ Dirty Secrets

Don’t environmentalists portent to protect the environment? The Start-Telegram says ethanol — the corn subsidy Congress is forcing refineries to mix with fuel — has destroyed millions of acres of land. According to the report, “Five million acres of land set aside for conservation … have vanished on Obama’s watch. … The consequences are so severe that environmentalists and many scientists have now rejected corn-based ethanol as bad environmental policy. But the Obama administration stands by it, highlighting its economic benefits to the farming industry.” (If by “benefits” they mean artificially inflating the cost of food and destroying your car’s engine…) Meanwhile, another study reveals that at least 600,000 bats were decimated by wind turbines just last year. According to biologist Mark Hayes, “This estimate of bat fatalities is probably conservative.”

O’Care Hits 3% of Target

The Tennessean notes that “Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee … plans to send about 66,000 letters to consumers over the next year informing them that they will have to choose another policy.” This is greater than the total number of people who have successful enrolled for insurance through Healthcare.gov. According to the Wall Street Journal, “Fewer than 50,000 people had successfully navigated the troubled federal health-care website and enrolled in private insurance plans as of last week, two people familiar with the matter said, citing internal government data.” This falls far short “of the Obama administration’s target of 500,000 enrollees for October.” Additionally, “12 of the 14 states that are running their own exchanges have tallied roughly 49,000 enrollees, excluding most Medicaid beneficiaries, according to a report released Monday by Avalere Health, a consulting firm.” All said, only about 100,000 individuals have joined state and federal exchanges.
