May 2018

Even as the nation was grieving the terrible loss of life in Parkland, Fla., gun control activists were doing what they do best: exploiting tragedy to advance their political agenda. Gun control activists are pushing a message that you are to blame for the criminal violence that took place last month. They’re attempting to capitalize on this tragedy to convince members of Congress and your state lawmakers to vote for their gun control wish list.

Proposals to ban the most popular rifles in America, arbitrarily limit magazine capacity, require a waiting period on all firearm sales, and restrict the right of law-abiding young adults to acquire rifles and shotguns have been suggested as “solutions” by those who wish to curtail the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Legislation encompassing these proposals could be voted on in the U.S. Congress or even your state legislature in the coming weeks.

That’s why it’s imperative that you contact your lawmakers today and ask them to oppose all gun control schemes that would only impact law-abiding gun owners. Click the link above and you can be done in 10 seconds.

The NRA Annual Meeting was a great success. Not only were attendance records set, but a historic milestone reached as the Vice President and President of the United States were both in attendance addressing the crowd.

If that’s not enough, the highly publicized anti-NRA demonstrations ceased to materialize, and the very few that showed up were a good distance away, so we never even got to see them.

It was great to see so many people that love this Country, believe in the Constitution, and aren’t afraid to express their religious beliefs. It is the foundation on which this country was founded, and we seem to have lost our way; at least if you listen to the loud-mouth complainers that are against everything we as a country stand for.

Similarly, it was great to see so many great speakers from Congress, governors, and heroes who serve in LE as well as civilians like Stephen Willeford. I know the speeches ran long but the crowd was enthusiastic even after standing in one of the longest lines I’ve ever been in to get in.

With so many companies in attendance, there was a lot to see on the exhibit floor as well, and it took a couple of days to cover it all. Below we have some videos from various companies and hopefully some product reviews in the coming months.

Our focus is on videos from the NRA Annual Meeting, and we’ll have more videos coming throughout this coming week. Users can stay up to date by subscribing to our YouTube Channel.

Our latest update includes new partners Rebel Arms and STNGR, along with new parts from longtime partners MAGPUL, Aero Precision, Geissele, and more. We’ve added over 100 new parts since late February, so be sure to check them out. In addition, recent updates have included changes that significantly improve GUNSTRUCTION’s responsiveness, particularly in categories with large part counts.

In other news, we’re coming very close to the release of a point of sale version of GUNSTRUCTION that will allow you to buy the firearm you have configured. Imagine going to your favorite online retailer, specifying exactly the firearm you want, and adding the components to your shopping cart with the press of a button! This is something we imagined for GUNSTRUCTION from day one and have been hard at work on for a few months now. Look for more details in a launch announcement soon!

Also coming soon, Spike’s Tactical! This well-known and liked brand has been frequently requested by users from the beginning, so we’re thrilled to have them on board as the new title sponsor for the AR308 platform. Look for updates that add their entire parts catalog over the coming months, starting with a big release in May. We’ll talk more about that in the next newsletter.

Finally, from time to time we still receive messages from users returning to the app after an extended hiatus, writing to express confusion or frustration that the app’s paid features no longer work. If you find yourself in that group, don’t worry. Check out the last three topics on our FAQ, which explain the reason for the change and how to get your purchases restored. Welcome back!

As usual, the latest version is free and live now, so check it out on, or get the latest version for iOS or Android! Watch for future updates here, or on Facebook, and check out our snazzy website.

That’s all for this month. If you haven’t planned a future build with us, swing by and give it a try!

Or if you are more of a mobile fan, we have mobile apps available for iOS and Android users.

We thank you for your continued support, and don’t forget that we can only make this possible through you-the firearms community, and the support of our partnered companies!

Please feel free to give us feedback in our forum or visit us at our Facebook page.

If you make an AR15/AR308, Remington 700, 10/22-style, or AK patterned rifle and would like to get your rifles or parts into GUNSTRUCTION, please feel free to contact us at: [email protected].

President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence Make History in Dallas

For the first time in the organization’s history, a sitting president and vice president both addressed NRA members at the 147th Annual Meetings in Dallas on Friday during the NRA-ILA Leadership Forum. This makes the second year in a row that President Trump’s visit is one for the history books. Last year, he became the first sitting president to attend the Annual Meetings in more than three decades when he spoke at the 2017 Leadership Forum in Atlanta. The last president to attend the NRA Annual Meetings was Ronald Reagan in 1983.

Hard Times for Dick’s as Second Amendment Supporters Respond to Company’s Anti-Gun Bent

We have recently been reporting on the bizarre anti-gun activism of one of the nation’s larger firearm retailers, Dick’s Sporting Goods and its affiliated Field & Stream stores. First, the company announced it would stop selling most centerfire semi-automatic rifles at its stores, carry only limited capacity magazines for semi-automatic guns, and ban firearm sales to certain legally eligible adults. It then took the further step of declaring it would destroy its inventory of the newly-restricted firearms at company expense. And if that weren’t enough, the news also recently broke that the company had hired expensive D.C. lobbyists to push for gun control measures on Capitol Hill.

Bailed-out Banks Launch Coordinated Attack on Law-abiding Gun Owners

There is growing evidence that some of America’s financial elite want to create a world in which America’s public policy decisions emanate from corporate boardrooms in Manhattan rather than from citizens and their elected officials. This was demonstrated in recent weeks when both Citigroup and Bank of America announced changes to their corporate guidelines aimed at preventing law-abiding Americans from exercising their constitutional rights.

All the “News” That Fits Our Agenda

In the 1890s, under the leadership of new owner Adolph Ochs, The New York Times began using the slogan “All the News That’s Fit to Print.” That phrase may have been intended to convey the impression that stories in the Times were carefully vetted, honest, and free of bias. The slogan was emblazoned upon the masthead of his paper, where it still resides. You see, Ochs detested the sensationalist reporting common at the time that was designed to sell newspapers using highly charged, emotional headlines. Fast-forward to this century, though, and we find that things haven’t really changed that much with the media.

Sorry, Alyssa, But We’re Glad We Came

You likely recall we mentioned a new anti-gun organization recently formed, which was billed as the brainchild of actress Alyssa Milano. You may also recall that we reported her group, NoRA, had made the vaguely threatening proclamation, “We’re going to show up at the NRA convention in Dallas and make them wish they stayed home.” So, what happened?

Well, we enjoyed yet another NRA Annual Meeting that set a new record for attendance, and which included both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence addressing a crowd of enthralled supporters. As for NoRA’s threat? Meh.
