Wirecutter Will Host First “Wirecutter Deal Day” on August 21
On August 21, Wirecutter will host its first Wirecutter Deal Day, a 24-hour event where Wirecutter will be sharing exclusive deals on some of its top product picks.
In a note to readers, Wirecutter Deals editor Adam Burakowski wrote:
“The way we cover deals at Wirecutter has always taken a different angle than deals coverage everywhere else. On any given sales holiday, we’ll sift through tens of thousands of discounted items for hours on end just so we can pull out a handful of good deals on Wirecutter picks for our readers. Sometimes we wish we could do more—and now we are.
Mark your calendar for August 21, for our very first Wirecutter Deal Day. Our editorial Deals team dug deep to identify some Wirecutter recommendations that have rarely gone on sale, and we wanted to thank you, our readers, with some rare deals on our picks.
After working with our editors to identify those rarely-on-sale items, our business team reached out to the retailers behind them to see if they’d be willing to offer some discounts that met our deal standards.
Because we approached this idea with care for your time and sanity, you won’t be seeing tens of thousands of deals—this isn’t Black Friday, after all. In what we hope will become an annual event, Wirecutter Deal Day will be all about quality over quantity, and telling you only about those worthwhile discounts on our recommendations.
Deal Day will be happening on our Deals page on Tuesday, August 21. Leading up to that day, we’ll also be doing some editorial coverage offering tips and advice for navigating the hassles of online shopping. As always, we’ll be sharing our deals on Twitter and sending them directly to the inboxes of our newsletter subscribers.”
Wirecutter is a product recommendation service acquired by The New York Times Company in 2016.
