Rush 24/7 Morning Update: Laguna Blues

RUSH: Okay, folks, this is California today.

The Laguna Beach Police just gave their 11 squad cars a makeover, with the word “Police” in an American flag graphic on the doors.

And it’s controversial.

Complaints poured out at the Laguna City Council meeting. An artist called the new cop cars “shocking,” The flag graphic, she said, “feels very aggressive.” According to one councilman, people were screaming that the American flag on a police car is “hurting people’s feelings who might be immigrants or visitors.”

A local designer testified that when several of the new cars arrived downtown on a police matter, that the police car — the word “Police” on the car — created a “panic.”

According to the L.A. Times, the cops like the cars with the flag, and so do some Laguna residents. But the furor over American flags (and the word “Police”) being added to police cars has created so much controversy that another city council meeting is scheduled to resolve the “problem.”

President Trump, when you send illegal immigrants to California sanctuary cities, please don’t forget Laguna Beach. Apparently, some of the residents there don’t want to be reminded that they’re still in America. This is unbelievable, but it’s true.
