‘Stop promoting fake news’! WaPo firefighters — not ‘white nostalgia’ — are fueling the nonexistent backlash against a black Little Mermaid
Last week, we told you about the alleged racist backlash against the casting of black actress Halle Bailey in Disney’s live-action “Little Mermaid” remake. The thing was, it wasn’t so much a racist backlash as it was an attempt by the wokeness brigade to stir up outrage against white people who don’t actually care one way or another what race Ariel belongs to.
But despite the faux racist narrative being pretty thoroughly debunked, the Washington Post is running with it anyway. Because the opportunity to shame white people over a manufactured outrage is just too tempting to pass up:

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. And when there’s no smoke to be found, brave firefighters must resort to starting the fires themselves.
I have yet to hear a person in real life complain about it, only 10-follower accounts saying "it's a Danish fairy tale!" and that's it. This isn't a real controversy.

What backlash? A few racists on social media. Twitter is not the real world, this amount to nothing.

I'm white and couldn't care less what race portrays The Little Mermaid. No one I know black, white or otherwise cares either. Why create turmoil and angst where there is none. #yawn

Perspective: There is no backlash and you guys do this every time. *yawn*

The only thing fueling this fake outrage is stupid lazy journalism https://t.co/sXJ1bM3gru

The media alone is fueling this. Nobody cares. Good for this young lady…wish her well
