‘Maybe sit this one out’: FBI gets dragged for their tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Remember the FBI’s toast to Prohibition last week? If you didn’t think they could outdo themselves, think again.
Today, they paid tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with this tweet:
Today, the FBI honors the life and work of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A quote from Dr. King is etched in stone at the FBI Academy's reflection garden in Quantico as a reminder to all students and FBI employees: "The time is always right to do what is right." #MLKDay pic.twitter.com/UKMLAAZw5w

On its face, there’s nothing wrong with that. But then you remember how the FBI treated MLK and realize that their tribute is actually quite tone-deaf.

Is that quote from one of his tapped phone calls? https://t.co/8H6uNhRoFM

Was that quote transcribed from surreptitiously recorded tapes?

I guess it's the least you could do after spying on him.

Maybe sit this one out. Take the day off or something.

Haha AYFKM? Maybe sitting this one out will prevent you from publicly humiliating yourselves.

Too late for that.
You know what!?! A public apology from the FBI for how he was treated is loooooong over due.

That might’ve been a better idea.
