FLASHBACK: Watch Venezuelans’ Powerful Warning to U.S. About Socialism, Bernie Sanders
Now that Sen. Bernie Sanders is the frontrunner in the Democratic race for president, it’s worth revisiting a powerful 2019 video of Venezuelans warning the United States about the Senator and the dangers of socialism.
Campus Reform’s Cabot Phillips spoke to Venezuelans at a protest in Washington, D.C. last year and asked them what their message was for Americans who support socialism.
“You do not ever want anyone, not even close, to socialism to come to this country,” one person said
The man said Bernie Sanders was an “enemy,” and urged Americans to “not ever get involved with this individual or any of the other socialists.”
“People are eating from trash bags in the street so how has socialism actually helped the country?” asked another Venezuelan protester.
Another demonstrator explained how the Venezuelan people never imagined their county would turn into such chaos.
“We also thought that this could never happen in our country. We had a balance of powers. We had democracy and we elected our leaders,” they explained.
Sanders has had a long love affair with socialism and communism, and in a recent “60 Minutes” episode he defended Fidel Castro’s communist regime and claimed “it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad.”
