Bill Maher mocks gun-owners after sales spike during outbreak: ‘So American … I’ll shoot the virus!’

Celebrated liberal comedian Bill Maher appears to be unable to comprehend why Americans wary of potential coronavirus-related supply chain disruptions, grocery shortagestravel quarantines and harassment/violence have reportedly been purchasing firearms in droves.

You know what’s up? All the businesses are closed in America, except gun sales,” he bemoaned during Friday’s edition of HBO’s “Real Time.” “So American.”

I’ll shoot the virus!” he added as he switched to a white country accent. “Get off my porch, you f—ing virus, or I’ll blow your … what do you got in there? I’ll blow it out!

He concluded, “We don’t do smart stuff in this country.”

Fast-forward to the 3:35 mark to hear the “joke” for yourself:

To be fair, his entire monologue was riddled with coronavirus-themed jokes concerning the hysterical panic that’s overtaken the world.

“Welcome to ‘F—ing Ridiculous with Bill Maher,” his monologue began. “It’s ‘Surreal Time’ is what we’re renaming this show. I don’t know if you’ve heard about this — I’m going to talk to you because you’re the only people here — but there is a bug going around.”

According to Fox News, the show was taped without a studio audience because of concerns surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.

“Everybody has the sniffles,” Maher continued. “It’s got everybody on edge. This country went from zero to crazy in about three seconds this week, and it is Friday the 13th now, there’s a pandemic, the markets are in freefall in general and Trump is president, so let’s hope we don’t run into a spate of bad luck.”

He went on to mock the American public for responding to the coronavirus pandemic by buying copious amounts of toilet paper and stereotyping Asians. But the way in which he chose to mock the American people demonstrated his clear-cut left-wing bias.

Could we try to just get through this without doing stupid s–t, you know, to make it worse? Did we have to have a run on toilet paper? I’m almost out. I was sitting there today going, ‘Jesus, if only Fox News had a print edition,’” he said.

And also, don’t stereotype Asian people. It started in China. It has nothing to do with that. I hear people calling it the ‘Wuhan flu.’ This is a little insensitive. It’s like calling Herpes ‘Coachella surprise.’ That’s my message here. Just don’t do stupid shit to make it worse.”

He then dropped his gun sale zinger.

His remarks about the Chinese Wuhan coronavirus indicated that, much like Democrats and their media allies, he’s more interested in touting the Communist Party of China’s talking points versus discussing the truth.

Even his own fans were annoyed by his complaint:

Likewise, Maher’s remarks about Asian stereotyping indicated that, as an elite insulated from the real world, he’s wholly unaware of what’s happening on the ground.

Last week, The Trace, a far-left outlet, reported that Asian Americans, not white country folk, have been driving up gun sales because of coronavirus-related fears.

“[T]here’s an acute fear among Asian-Americans that the virus’s origins in China will spark a violent xenophobic backlash. Along the West Coast, where the worst outbreaks of coronavirus in the United States have occurred, those fears seem to be spurring a surge in gun sales,” the outlet reported.

“People are panicking because they don’t feel secure,” David Liu, the Chinese American owner of Los Angeles’ Arcadia Firearm and Safety, said. “They worry about a riot or maybe that people will start to target the Chinese.”

The fear is especially prominent among the liberal East Coast and liberal West Coast, both of which are home to left-wing elites like Maher.

Why? Because it’s primarily among the left-wing-dominated coasts that acts of discrimination, harassment and violence against Asians have occurred.

Case in point:

This attack occurred on America’s liberal East Coast.

“Disturbing new video shows what appears to be a racially-motivated crime sparked by fear over the coronavirus,” local station WABC reported.

“The video shows a man on a New York City subway train arguing with a fellow passenger who is Asian, then spraying Febreeze air freshener at that passenger.”

So instead of lecturing country folks about their guns, perhaps Maher should lecture his own left-wing neighbors on the coast …
